I have bought several games, including Knights Of The Old Republic (1 & 2), the Hitman Trilogy boxset and Black & White 2, all of which failed to work properly on my system (32 bit Vista premium). Going to TPB, I have found all those games, edited by pirates to allow them to work on systems which are “too good” for them. Or, as NicotineAlien said: “The pirated versions [of pc games] work better than the retail versions!”
